Kinetic Energy With Prediction Lab
Kinetic Energy With Prediction Lab
In this lab you will be able to control the amount of energy that will be given to your astronaut. Your job is to see how the amount of energy they are given affects the speed they obtain. Once you have discovered this relationship, you will then use it to make predictions on things you didn't actually measure.

When you are ready to start the experiment, click on the begin button.

Adjust the amount of energy that will be given to your astronaut and then hit 'Activate'.

Determine the speed created by the energy by timing the astronaut's travel through the photogates.

Finished
Create a graph with speed (m/s) obtained by the astronaut on the y-axis and the kinetic energy (J) given to the astronaut on the x-axis.

Enter the graph constant below and then use the equation you discovered to find the speed created when the astronaut is given X Joules of energy.

Finally, find the energy the astronaut would need to get to a speed of Y m/s.
